About the Artist

Craig Witter’s journey as an artist is deeply rooted in his upbringing and personal history. Growing up in a career Air Force family, he moved frequently, but his connection to art remained constant. Inspired by his grandmother’s meticulous paintings, he pursued printmaking at Penn State, graduating in 1987. For over two decades, he worked as a self-employed architectural illustrator in State College, refining his eye for structure and detail.

As a tempera painter, Craig draws inspiration from the landmarks and landscapes of Central Pennsylvania, capturing their timeless essence with intricate precision. His work reflects both the technical discipline of his illustration background and the emotive depth of his artistic heritage.  With careful detail and a deep connection to place, he brings familiar landscapes to life, encouraging viewers to see them with fresh appreciation and personal reflection.
